Hi there!! If you are stopping by via Pinterest or from another link, thanks so much for coming! And, while you're at it, take a look around...there's lots of fun stuff to see!
Over the weekend I revisited a blog that I haven't been to in a while Chocolate Eyes. While i was there I saw that Becca had recently posted an adorable little tutorial for a Valentine peekaboo ornament. So cute! And then, I realized that with all of my Valentiney making around here I didn't have anything little to give to Violet and Henry tomorrow for Valentine's day.
So, using Becca's tutorial as a starting point and the supplies I had on hand (more detailed info on how to after pictures...)
I made two little, Waldorf inspired, Valentine's Day peg dolls.
Wow, this felt is really HOT pink!!
Edited for update on how to details:
To make: Cut two hearts out to start, then cut a small hole in the center of one heart. Blanket stitch around the opening for the face (hole). Next, sandwhich your peg doll between your two hearts and blanket stitch the hearts together around their perimeter starting at one side of the peg doll's body and ending at the other side. Be sure to stitch as closely as you can to the body, you want the hearts to be nice and snug around the peg doll's body. You can place a bit of fabric glue around the head to keep the felt in place around the head, or do it the way Becca did. I didn't, the head does pop in and out sometimes, but I found that the kiddos liked that aspect, like a little hood. Once I was finished sewing the hearts I added some glue to the points of the hearts, both front and back, to keep the heart in place on the body of the peg doll. I drew and painted my faces on at the very end. Enjoy!
Now, I am pretty sure my Valentines crafting is complete, well except for maybe some heart shaped food tomorrow ;) I've got some birthday party preparations to get to and a birthday dress/skirt to make!
