I had a favorite dress...of Violet's...Okay, well there actually have been many favorite dresses, some I have made some not...but this handmade one
I hadn't actually thought much about it though until I recently used some of my fabric scraps from it to make a Lavender eye pillow. And then we were going through some of our old clothes and I came across it. I pulled it aside.
Then, for Violet's birthday, she got a book from my mother-in-law... "I had a favorite dress". My mother-in-law told me before Violet's birthday that she had found the PERFECT book this year...she was RIGHT! The book is about a little girl who, had a favorite dress...and then it was too small...so "Snip, snip, sew, sew...New shirt, hello!"...and it goes on...
It is definitely the perfect book! Oh, there is so much snip, snipping, sew, sewing going on around here all the time ;) So, in honor of KCWC and inspired by this book, I thought of that favorite dress I pulled aside...
And, snip, snip, sew, sew...new skirt hello!
Oh, I thought and thought about how it would be lovely to have the dress and save it for a one day granddaughter...but, then I looked at the Anna Maria Horner Voile and thought...oh how could I just let it go away for that long?...
Even when the wearer is not quite so ladylike ;)
Oh I wish someone would make me a skirt like this ;) Okay, I guess that someone would be me...it might be a necessity I think!
Oh, and, if you should find yourself at a book store or Anthropologie (that is where my mother-in-law bought it) you should definitely pick up "I had a favorite dress". It is a cute, fun, and oh so true to life for us sewers!
And, to backtrack a bit...I got some pictures of Henry wearing one of his new tees today!
He thinks the shirt has a cupcake on it...
"It's a rain cloud Henry."
Oh, okay Henry...No worries, no matter what he thinks it is...he seems to love it!
And, it also apparently is a great shirt for his mean harmonica playing!
And, a picture of the back, only because i really want to tickle that little neck!
See, I told you today was going to be easy peasy...tomorrow...hmmm? Shorts, I think...
