Really, we are. And, I hope it stays that way! I love hats! Okay, okay, I don't wear them as much as I used to, but I do have my trusty Phillies cap to toss on and my very well loved crushable straw Scala hat. I still love them and love that my kids love them too!
Henry, in particular, is a hat boy. He takes after his Dad I suppose. It is rare that he does not have a hat on his head.
In particular this hat.
This hat, his sister proudly picked out at the store when she was about two. She wore it everywhere. She deemed it her "Woody hat". She grew out of it and now has her own "Jesse hat". But the "Woody hat" lives on...all the time, even during naps sometimes and up until bedtime.
So, knowing the hat love that we have around here I was thrilled to make Henry a Huck Finn cap for Easter! I used some wool that I happened to have in my stash and some of that same Alexander Henry Dandelion fabric that I used for Violet's bonnet. It came together fairly quickly, although there were some mistakes, oops! And, some seam ripping, argh! But, in the end, oh my goodness a real cap! Perfectly adorable!
And then, he refused to wear it! There were about five minutes where he put aside the "woody hat" and tried his new hat on before Easter and I quickly snapped a few pictures because I was sure I would never see him in it again.
But then, as if by magic, he wore it all day on Easter! Not a word about the "woody hat" was spoken! Oh, thank goodness because it really did make the outfit.
And, while the "woody hat" is still the hat of choice around here...he has actually put on and worn his Huck Finn cap a couple of times since Easter.
