A few months ago we were visiting and having a play date at one of our friend's homes. At the time of our visit they were having a mural painted in their third little girl's nursery, it was a cloud and sky mural. As we left our play date that day ...my wheels began to turn, a cloud mobile would be fun. Of course it wasn't something I really had to do, just really wanted to do, therefore it ended up a bit far down on my to do list.
It just so happens that they were the ones that were hosting our camping trip this weekend, so it felt like the perfect deadline for me to get it done.
So, now that the little baby girl is seven months old...I finally have it done. Better late than never I suppose.
I love these little guys hanging on to their balloons flying through the air...
When making this mobile I wanted to make sure that the hanging down parts of the mobile would move and "flutter" well to give the mobile good movement. To do this I used some Pellon Craft Fuse. I fused the interfacing to one piece of my fabric and then pinned a matching piece to the other side.
I drew my shapes onto the pinned fabric pieces and then sewed along the lines. After all of my shapes were sewn together I cut them out and then sewed a piece of hemp string to their tops. I kept the clouds super simple and sewed them wrong sides together, leaving the edges raw.
I love the way it turned out (although not the difficulty of photographing it)...so do Violet and Henry as it turns out...they have been asking for clouds of their own now too! Add it to the list, I suppose!
