Today I'd like to introduce you to a new quarterly digital publication, Crafting Connections.
I love projects that involve "little ones and their grown-ups"! I think it is so important to get in there with your children and make and create all while "having a little chat" about it all.
This quarter is all about Fall fun. There are many wonderful ideas in the Fall Nature Walk edition. They have done an excellent job including projects that are good for a variety of different ages and give you helpful tips how to gear it toward your child's skill level. Included, are project materials lists for each craft (to make it even easier they also offer Supply Kits with the more specialized items needed for the publication projects), a book list to go along with the projects and suggested comments and questions to help you explore more and to make connections with your child and with nature. Not to mention their website is continually updated with more crafting ideas and special projects for their subscribers!
Looking through the Fall Nature Walk edition of Crafting Connections it was hard to decide where to start...But we decided to start by making a play forest. Violet and Henry enjoyed searching the yard for sticks and decided to use some other objects that we collected from a recent nature walk.
As we (I made one too...) made our trees Violet and Henry began to spontaneously tell stories about what was happening in their forests. There were forest fairies living in one, a sneaky squirrel in another, and a big storm that came through knocking acorns to the ground in another.
Working with the clay and sticks was great for their motor skills and well, as you know, we love to make up and tell stories!
There are some more ideas that we are looking forward to trying from this edition...and guess what...
I have one copy to give away to you!
Simply leave a comment here on this post to enter for a chance to win a copy of this quarter's Fall Nature Walk. I will leave comments open through Friday, 10/5, and announce the winner Saturday morning (so you can get started over the weekend!)
Note: I was given a copy of the fall issue to review but was not compensated in any way...all opinions are my own, and Violet and Henry's ;) we just really love this publication!
