I'm still in a bit of disbelief that it's already 2013, why does time seem to move so quickly?
We were trying to explain the concept of the New Year celebration to Violet last night. The whole ringing in the New Year and such. I tried to explain how some people are a little sad that the year is over while others are excited for the beginning and newness of the coming year. And some, like me, are a bit in between it all. She was a bit perplexed, to say the least.
We made some last minute fascinators (I love that word, I find it to be a fascinating word choice.) using headbands, origami paper and feather barrettes that were leftover from Violet's Fancy Nancy party.
We celebrated a bit with family and then headed home to have a mini celebration before sending the kids off to bed. We toasted with chocolate, sparkling grape juice, and crackers (of the party variety).
The bubbles from the sparkling cider went immediately to Violet and Henry's head, which made me giggle because I remember feeling bubbly, and "drunk on happiness", when I was a child and drinking sparkling cider.
As it turns out, those were the only bubbles that Brad and I imbibed in. I know lame, it's my fault. I fell asleep for about 15 min. at 11:30 and was ready for bed immediately after the ball dropped, but then, of course couldn't fall asleep until 1:00, boo.
Today, we kicked off the New Year with our traditional New Year's walk, only today it was a hike...
Complete with some happy New Year cheers,
Shenanigans
It's a been a pretty good day.
Before I head out, I just wanted to wish you all a Happy New Year too!
I want to thank you, thank you for coming back to this space to visit and see what there is to see. I appreciate it! I really do!
Thanks to you, this little blog, still not yet two years old, reached 100,000 lifetime pageviews a few days before the end of the year! While 100,000 pageviews isn't big potatoes, it's also not small potatoes ;) So, thank you for reading!
I hope you continue to visit this space in the coming year. I know many people are setting goals for themselves right now, and, I have to say, that is not something I'm very good at, oops, but, I'm going to try.
I hope to be more organized this year, both in my home and here on the blog. Maybe a little blog face lift sometime...? I will be searching for more balance. Balance is something I wrote about last January as well, and I think that we are all constantly searching for it. I'm hoping to find a better balance this year between the blog, my family, and something I often forget...me...
I haven't made any specific bloggy or sewing goals though. The content of this blog is generally fairly eclectic (which I hope you enjoy) and is really a very good representation of me. I'm just kind of making it up (no pun intended) as I go. So, for now, I think I'll keep it that way.
Anywho. I wish you a Happy New Year!
