A while back I offered to sew up a pair of prefontaine shorts for Jill, aka, That Moxie Girl using knit fabric. Heck, why not! Violet and Henry's prefontaine pool shorts turned out great and I've got loads of tees waiting to be upcycled! I actually ended up piecing together little snippets of knit scraps from these green shorts and from this yellow shirt to make my trim and pockets. So, they are a bit of a hodge podge of different shirts...which is perfect for Henry, as one of his nicknames is indeed, Hodge Podge, or simply Hodge for short! Sewing these up with knits was not much different than the last time. I used a ballpoint needle to sew. I did pin a lot, especially on the curves. I was especially careful not to stretch the fabric while sewing on the trim and smoothed my fabric on the curves so as to not catch the body of the shorts in with the trim. A bonus working with the knit, there was no need to finish unfinished seems, yay!
For the back pocket I skipped making it and simply used the original pocket from the shirt for the
It saved me time...and turned out great!
Henry wore these the other day when it was super hot and he looked so comfy! I was completely jealous of his cool (as in awesome and temperature) shorts!
And, he found his pockets!
He really just wanted to jump around in them...
I did manage to get a few belly shots from him
before he was off to finish his mud pies... He loves his new prefontaines!
Have a great day!
