You may, perhaps, remember way back at the beginning of the summer my casual comment about my sister (who had just graduated from college) moving in with us for the summer. Well, the summer has come...and (is nearly) gone...and this past weekend she moved out, not far, down the road a bit. But now, she is living in her first apartment as an "adult" and no longer a college student. I used quotations because this is an idea that she is still getting used to, much to her chagrin, ha ha!
We are happy that we were able to give her a little starting place, a jumping off point just out of college. And, of course, we wouldn't want to send her off into the great big world of "adulthood" empty handed...So, Henry and I made her a little housewarming gift... I've found a new love for succulents after last week's succulent in a tea tin...So we thought a succulent garden would be a sweet gift.
First, we painted the pot. We used painter's tape to make the stripes and then painted pink in between... Next, we plugged up the hole on the bottom with a wine cork and then we filled the bottom with a bit of pea gravel. Then, we carefully added each plant into the pot. We sprinkled the top with more pea gravel and added four stick and acorn cap "mushrooms"
