Hello there! Today is a big day!
Today is the day that I, GULP, make some goals. Goals for me! Today is the day that I, albeit a bit timidly, say "I am going make some time for ME!"
Okay, okay, first...I admit, a lot of this blog is for me. I started it to help me regain a sense of "purpose" after Henry was born and I began the path of stay at home mom. It helped me to have something to do. It helped me to connect. But then, of course, I do make a lot for the kids...
And, while I have made many amazing connections and lots of friends here in this online world, it's also quite comfy here in cyberworld. It's easy to hide here. It's easy to forget about getting out there in the real world. Sometimes...you forget to actually talk, to speak up, with words to people in the same room!
I am going to try to be more BOLD by speaking up! I often find myself playing the shy and timid mouse when we are out at gatherings or parties. I often feel insecure about being "only a stay at home mom" and about speaking up and talking about this little blog of mine, but if I don't believe in it and in myself then how can I ask anyone else to? I am going to try to be more BRILLIANT by learning! It's been so so long since I've taken any sort of class! A long time since Biology, Physics, Biochemistry and graduating from college 14 years ago! This year I am going to take a class. I'm not sure what kind of class, but a class. I want to learn, something. I am going to step away from this little comfortable house of mine and let my brain have some fun! And, lastly, I am going to try to be more BEAUTIFUL by running! Just before getting pregnant with Violet, my husband and I finished our second marathon. I finished five minutes away from qualifying for the Boston Marathon! I felt more confident and beautiful than I had in a very long time!
And then, two kids came along and running was always the first thing to be pushed aside.
But, last weekend was my first workout with some friends in a running group...And when I came home I felt good! Great! And, I noticed something interesting...Violet was super chatty with me! It's almost like she was noticing me in a different way. Like she was feeding off of my endorphins! Alright, call me crazy, I don't mind! Running is good for me is so many ways, but mostly because it does make me feel beautiful! So, my goal is to run a race (preferably a half marathon) sometime this year! And there! I did it! Made some goals! Hooray! I may have done it "kicking and screaming", but it's done! Of course, I couldn't have done it without some fabulous friends of mine, others who are joining in on this #boldbrilliantbeautiful project...
More about the Bold. Brilliant. Beautiful. You. project... Throughout the year, I'm joining forces with some of my blogging friends to motivate and encourage ourselves and others to be bold and step out from behind the lens, projects, and mama status to show ourselves.
That's right, we're doing something just for us.
And we're inviting you to join us!
Each of us has something bold, brilliant and beautiful inside—whether it's a dream to ask for a promotion, wear those sparkly shoes in the back of our closet, or start a non-profit. The #boldbrilliantbeautiful project is a support group for all of us seeking to be real and vulnerable.
No judging, no questions, just support and words of encouragement. Be a part of the project by using #boldbrilliantbeautiful on instagram and twitter to find other women like you, who are looking to make 2014 their best, most authentic year yet!
