Yup, more bathing suits, matching ones at that! I mean what's a handmade summer without swimsuits, right!
Earlier this summer, even before I began pattern testing for the Cosi swimsuit, Henry expressed a great distaste for his regular baggy bathing suits and wished he had a pair like his beloved fancy pants so I told him I'd make him something... And then I began sewing up Violet's first bathing suit and then he begged and begged me to make him one too!
So, I whipped him up a quick little pair using some leftover swimsuit material and the fancy pants pattern. He likes them on the longer side so I added a bit of length to the shorts cutting line on the pattern.
He then flat out refused to wear anything but that pair! So, of course I had to make him another pair! I sewed up this fishy pair to match Violet's fishy bathing suit just before our last trip to the beach...
Maybe he likes them because they allow him to run at top speed more easily?...
I'm not sure why he only wants to wear them exactly, but I'm happy to make them because that way I can make matching suits. (dorky or cute?)
Well, after testing this tank top pattern from Petit Threads (a collaboration between Laura, Titchy Threads, and Celina, Petit a Petit and Family) in knit, I knew I wanted to try it in swimsuit material as well (the pattern is also intended too be used as a rash guard!)
So, just before we headed off to the beach again I sewed up a striped rash guard and a new swimsuit (again using the fancy pants pattern)...
Look at those muscles!
Violet needed one more suit too...
Another Cosi with a skirt, I just love the skirt! Oh, and a pair of polka dots shorts for Henry too!
Plus, matching suits make it easier to spot both kiddos when you are at the beach, right?
All fabric, stripes, fish and polka dots is from Girl Charlee. I used the FOE method and swimsuit material binding method again for Violet's suit. And again, I promise to let you know as soon at the tank is available for purchase!!
Have a great day!
