It's become a bit of a tradition around here, if my husband and I are planning a date night I often try to squeeze in a bit of "selfish sewing" for myself beforehand. I've sewn several dresses for date nights, a Washi, a Josephine, and two Tovas, plus a fancy skirt and clutch. We don't go out on dates all that often so it's nice to put a little extra effort into the occasion. Plus, it gives me something new to wear out and about!
I had planned on wearing my new Odette for the first time for our night out this past weekend, but sadly, it's already too big! Argh! The troubles of sewing and loosing weight, I'll have to figure out how to bring it in...Anywho, I didn't have time to make myself another new dress so I thought I'd make myself a new clutch instead!
I love clutches! I especially love carrying a clutch out on date nights because it makes me feel especially unencumbered, because you know a mom bag and all those random kid things that end up in them, ugh so heavy!
The clutch in Anna's updated envelope clutch pattern. This pattern is fantastic, as are all of Anna's patterns. There are lots of pieces to cut out before you begin between batting, interfacing, pockets and the bag itself and, with all of those pattern pieces, there are several different steps to making the bag so it took me a little longer to put together than I had originally anticipated. But, all that said, it does come together easily and smoothly thanks to a well written pattern and detailed diagrams, etc. Plus, the end result is so fantastic! It's such a great looking clutch, the details (ahem PIPING!) really make it so lovely!
I totally love my new clutch, it's perfect for the bare necessities, phone, lipstick, keys, and money...and none of that extra stuff!
Perfect for date nights or errands!
Have a great day!
