Hi there!! If you are stopping by via Pinterest or from another link, thanks so much for coming! And, while you're at it, take a look around...there's lots of fun stuff to see!
There seem to be an abundance of people writing about balance lately. It must be because it's January right? The after Christmas exhaustion paired with high hopes and New Year's Resolutions for the coming year...leave us wondering how we can somehow find a bit more balance this year...
Sadly, I do not have the answers. HA, remember yesterday when I was thankful for my clean house...well, even that little task of getting our house cleaned in an afternoon put me in a bit of a "let's all panic and freak out" mode feeling like there were still so many more things I needed to squeeze in before the weekend was over! This was followed by some caring words from Brad reminding me that I need to take some time for myself (time that does not involve sewing)...double HA! I do realize that, honestly, I do realize that i need to take some time for myself...but first i need to find the balance first and then take the time...Hmmm, maybe that's not the way it's supposed to go.
Anywho...one of the things that threw my balance off a bit was that just before Christmas Violet decided that she was done taking naps. I knew it was only a matter of time, but, really, right before Christmas?! So, I have been asking her to merely rest in her room for a half an hour each day. During this time she can play quietly or look at books. During this time I get a tiny moment to just breath, but, that half an hour goes by in the blink on an eye...and then what? Not much time to work on sewing and crafts and the oh so many things on my list of things to do...
She does enjoy helping me with some of my projects, but what she really wants is to be doing something with me. And to do something creative WITH me.
This little girl truly has quite the creative mind! Yesterday was a rainy day, we hoped for the sun to come out and that we might get a glimpse of a rainbow. No luck. And then, her little voice spoke up (remembering something she had seen in a book) "Maybe we should make our own rainbow, with a glass of water and some paper!" So, instead of sewing yesterday we did some experimenting and rainbow making.
And then we moved it onto the wall...
And then we moved it to the craft table where I drew rainbow lines onto a piece of paper and we used different colored stickers to fill it in to create our own rainbow...
And then, she thought we ought to write a story about the rainbow...
(It continues onto the back... "reflecting off of the window and then I saw a crocodile. The end")
So, I didn't get as many things done as I would have liked...but, we did make two rainbows together, not a bad way to spend an afternoon!
And, I'm not the only one making rainbows...check out Toys in the Dryer
