It seems that I ended up making several little things with letters over the holidays...
You may have already seen these pictures from my whirlwind Christmas Eve post, well maybe it didn't feel like a whirlwind to you, but it most definitely was here in real life!
I first saw this idea on Soulemama's blog and then checked out her source at Design Mom (also my inspiration for the preschool project snow globes). I didn't have the special pens that she was talking about, and didn't have time to run out and buy them, so I just used a paint pen that is good for ceramic that I already had on hand. I also just traced the letters lightly on to the mugs with crayon. I did follow her baking instructions. These were gifts to two of my sisters and we stuffed some little goodies inside them. We had a lot of fun doing them, Violet was kind of mezmerised by the whole thing...
Speaking of Violet...she got a little handmade letter gift herself.
I thought I'd make Violet her own little letter necklace to wear around her neck since she is still staring at mine! I bought some of the inexpensive little letter beads from Michael's and a silver chain. I had to snip off the end of the chain in order to slide the letters on and then I soldered it back together. She likes it!
But my oh my, was she being quite the clown during the picture taking!!
And one last little thing with letters...
Inspired partly by magnets (seen here too) that I made and a lego belt that Delia of Delia Creates made came initial belts for my nephews.
The belts were well received by the boys! I think they were really cool!
The letters are from Bananagrams and the belt buckle and cotton webbing were purchased at my local fabric store. Super easy to make...super glue the letters onto the belt buckle, voila, done!
Try some of these simple and fun to make letter projects...because doesn't it always make you feel special when something is just for YOU!!
