Hi there!! If you are stopping by via Pinterest or from another link, thanks so much for coming! And, while you're at it, take a look around...there's lots of fun stuff to see!
Tomorrow is Violet's official birthday, she is turning four! Wow! Over the weekend we celebrated with her friends from preschool. She was so excited to have her friends over! And then she woke up not feeling so hot. But, no fever and certainly not sick enough to forgo a party!
The theme was Fancy Nancy, don't you just love her fancy way of teaching kids fancy vocabulary!!
It was more of just a fancy party. I'm virtually certain there was less glitter and less pink and purple than you would typically see at a Fancy Nancy party...but this was our version...Fancy bow ties, feathers, flowers, candles (not lit), glasses, straws with fancy words, and pink lemonade.
The kids were greeted, quite cordially, by the hostess herself and then offered a multitude of fancy accessories to put on should they choose. Then, everyone got their pictures taken in our prop picture frame ( a la wedding photo booth style) and we printed their pictures out so they could take them home with them. There were crafts too, with glitter, stickers, picture frame decorating, and make your own necklaces...
It was fun! We all had a great time! I enjoyed myself! This is probably one of the first times that we have had a party where I have actually had a bit of time to speak with each of our guests, and enjoy myself as well...That being said...there was fun being had and not many pictures being taken. How do bloggers do it?! Throw fancy parties and take fancy pictures of all of their fancy stuff? Practice I guess. That, and, I guess I should have had it all together the day before hand...but really who has time for that?!
My favorite part...well, there were two...how gracious and excited Violet was when she opened each one of her gifts!
And, seeing all those little kids sitting at the long kid sized table that we fashioned together using scrap plywood and two benches...Oh how I wish we had gotten that picture! So cute and fancy with their glasses of pink lemonade and glass dishes and fancy attire!
As favors, we picked up some of these little mailboxes and used some of our magnet letters and put each guests name of the outside. Inside, were little note cards.
Most of our decorations were things that we have recycled from past birthdays. I am a big believer in non disposable decorations...for many reasons including, time and conservation...
There were, however, some paper stars and butterflies added this year. I used this tutorial for the stars.
After the party we rested...phew, fun and tiring! And today, I dragged the whole family to the fabric store with me. Oh, it was actually fun. And, I scored 7 yards of fabric for $20!
Happy President's Day!
