Alright, so most of the time I have a thousand things and ideas floating around in my head that I want to do, try, sew, make, etc..clearly, I am not alone in this, isn't this the life of so many bloggers? It's just the way it is, no matter how hard I shake I can't get it all out of my head! It's hard work, right?! ;)
Well, equally as hard...having a child who, whether by nature or nurture seems to have a similar sort of creative brain!
Every time I turn around Violet is dreaming up new fantastic ideas! She can often be found telling stories while simultaneously drawing a picture of said story. She raids the craft drawers to snip, color and toil this, that and the other thing. And, more often than not, she is asking for some help with these fantastic ideas!!!
One such idea...A backyard drum set so that she and Henry can put on shows! The request began several weeks ago. I promised I would work on it after vacation, and so we did...
A tree stump for a seat, a kitty litter box for the "base drum" (and drum stick/bell storage), a metal trash can for drum number two, the trash can's lid as a symbol, a plastic pipe for a washboard type instrument (Wait, I have a washboard too! I better add that as well!), and some bells!
Wow, can we really woop up a racket with this percussion set!!! I hope our neighbors don't hate me! It's really a ton of fun! Even mama gets into it! I love all of the elements, but I really really love the bells! We went to the store looking for a cowbell and came home with these bells instead...
They are awesome!! They sound beautiful! It comes with notes to play a few songs like "Wheels on the Bus" and "Twinkle, Twinkle"...and the most awesome part, it spins around! I know that might sound trivial, but give it a spin and let the malet run over the bells, it's pretty magical sounding!
Not to mention, quite relaxing...
So, there you go Violet (and Henry)! One summer project completed! Thanks for bugging reminding me, because I am loving our backyard music!
Maybe we should invite friends and sell tickets! ;)
