We arrived home from a week away in Oak Island, NC yesterday afternoon. We left our home for vacation early in Saturday morning just after that amazing and terrifying derecho swooped through. We assessed our house and yard and decided that we should move forward...
And, now, as I wade through our pictures from the trip and settle back in to business as usual, I am THANKFUL...
for beautiful weather at the beach: breezy, salty air and warm waves
for visits with my sister and her husband who live nearby where we were vacationing, perfect!
for cousin time for the kiddos too!
for a few days where we were all healthy even though there were fevers to be fought on the way to and from our vacation...
that Henry, albeit on the last day, finally realized that he loves the beach and the ocean! On all the other days he cried and most of the time refused to touch the sand and was constantly requesting (or whining) “Up, up, up” or “Pick me up!”
For violet who, as it turns out, is a beach bum in the making ;) and totally "gets it", what a beach vacation should be about!
for fireworks viewing on the beach! It was the first time Brad, Violet and I had seen fireworks since Violet was about 16months old and a first ever for Henry! There were many ooos and ahhhs from us all, fun, fun, we love fireworks!
for delicious beachy food and cold beer along the water
and for late night chats with Brad on our seaside balcony, some much needed "catch up" time between us as well...because sometimes it's just too hard to find those moments at home.
And, now that we are home, I am THANKFUL...
for my own kitchen, bed, and shower
for clean and sand free floors and beds
to be home
that power returned to our home while we were away and that we have fantastic neighbors that checked in on our house when it finally did return (after being out for nearly three whole days!) and emptied the contents of our refrigerator and freezer...
to find some hand printed fabric in my mailbox when I arrived home (more on those later...)
and for fun family memories as we enjoyed our first family vacation with “Just the four of us”
And, yes, this is really the best we could do on a family photo...ugh, no good...oh well (Nearly immediately after this I began my fever fighting...)
More pictures to come...
