So, we are currently in the midst of potty training Henry. I sort of feel like this is our first time. For Violet we did the whole potty training in three days or less. It worked perfectly for her! But, honestly, it almost feels like Violet potty trained herself. After those three days, a month before she turned two, there have been only a handful of accidents, including night time. We never had to use pull-ups of any sort. She just got it. Ahhhh, it's been sweet!
So, of course I've heard that potty training boys is/can be more difficult. And, of course, I'm eager to be done with diapers. But, despite my suggestions Henry hasn't been really interested in the whole thing. We tried over the summer. Mostly he was adamant about not using the potty. Alright, don't push it, wait until they are ready. I truly think that that is why everything went so smoothly with Violet, we didn't push her and she was just ready.
All that being said, a couple of weeks ago Henry began to show some interest. So we went with it! No pull-ups, just easy off pants and it has been going great! There have even been a few dry naps and mornings! This, to me, seems a bit unprecedented! Anywho, we are working the positive thinking angle and hoping that this all sticks.
To make things more fun, and little leaky accidents a little bit less messy I bought some cotton training underpants at the store. Henry is totally psyched that he gets to wear underpants! Yahoo! I'm not kidding, excited and skipping around about it.
To make them even more fun (and not commercial charactery, which I'm totally not into!) I added a couple of quick and fun appliques to his undies.
I know I know, maybe a bit overboard, but it didn't take long, it makes them fun and he loves them even more now!
Not to mention, I think that they are adorable too! Especially this guy...
And this guy...
Today, instead of skipping about in his undies, he decided to hop like the frog on his pants...
So, fingers crossed...Here's to hoping that these undies stay dry and that we are moving forward!
Oh, and I should mention...that I have some diaper covers left over from cloth diapering that still fit Henry, so I've been using those over top of these thicker cotton training undies during naps, etc...but Cheryl over at Sew Can Do made some water proof ones that are really cute! Funny that we both posted about potty training on the same day ;)
