Ever since I received my handprinted fabrics (you can see them here & here) I have been thinking about what to do with them. I see them up on my shelf daily and wonder if I should do this or that...and, as it turns out, in the end, I chicken out. I chicken out because I know how much effort was put into those pieces of fabric and I am a little bit afraid to cut into them!
Last week, when we were discussing our new dining room wall I pulled out this fabric from Anna
We were thinking about possibly hanging it on the wall to go along with the rest of our collection, but it just didn't fit the space. I tossed it on the bed in our sewing/guest room/office to be put away. As I was about to fold it up I laid it out on the bed and noticed that it is exactly the same size as a standard sized pillow.
What a perfect fit for this one, a pillow sham. No need to cut.
I used a bit of the Ikea striped fabric that I had leftover from my tea towel aprons for the back of the sham and to finish the edges.
While I am using the pillow as sham, I decided to make the cover a traditional pillow case style as opposed to the usual sham envelope opening. I did this for two reasons, because I wanted it to be quick on and off for cleaning, and, also, because I like the addition of the stripes in the front.
Anywho...doesn't it look cute on the bed?
And Henry, what a sweet little boy...when he notices something he likes he tells you!
Audible GASP! "I like your new pillow!!"
"Thanks buddy!" :)
Thanks Anna for a beautiful piece of handprinted fabric.
