A couple of years ago I made Violet a little lion jacket and hood for her Halloween costume.
Mind you this was very early on in my sewing and it was a self drafted pattern, so it wasn't perfect...but darn, she was stinkin' cute! And she got lots of compliments...
But, that's not what this post is about...
To go along with her little lion mane and tail she, of course, needed a little lion trick or treat bag, but not one of the Pottery Barn Kids $16 variety...
I added a lion applique to a piece of craft felt (9"x12") and then sewed that piece (right sides together) to another piece of felt, flipped it right side out and added a 22" piece of rope cording for a strap.
Simple as can be. You can make your felt trick or treat bag look like anything you want.
Inexpensive and customizable. It could even be a no sew project if you use glue and poke holes to feed ribbon through and tie knots. Have fun with it!
Bonus, the kids still enjoy using these with their dress up stuff!
