Okay, so here's the thing...I'm cheap...I mean, it takes a lot for me to buy a new pattern. Often, I'll make something using a pattern that I've already got on hand. So, last spring when everyone else was making Rae's flashback skinny tees...I was making my raglan tees from "Sewing for Boys" because I already had that tee pattern on hand. Don't get me wrong, I love those raglans...but after seeing skinny tee after skinny tee that I loved I thought about buying Rae's pattern, but didn't...
And then after using her bonnet pattern and then of course, the lovely washi I thought, hmmm, maybe I ought to get the skinny tee pattern too. I am so glad I did! Between the skinny tee and the raglan tee I may not buy another tee for the kids again! Well, that's not very practical probably...but these skinny tees are a dream to put together...simple and such awesome finished products! (There will be more to come!)
This shirt was my first attempt...
I found this knit on the super cheapo table at my local fabric shop. I had envisioned using it for some sort of knit sundress, but then I thought pjs, of course though, not enough, boo.
Oh well, it's still a pretty darn cute little tee.
So, now it's nice to have my first flashback skinny tee done.
This shirt I made by up-cycling fabric from two of Brad's old shirts. I used the short sleeves in their entirety to make the top part of the sleeve and then made up the difference using another shirt.
I really liked it as is...but I had promised I would make Henry a new squirrel shirt this year. Last year's was no longer fitting, heck it barely fit last year, oops!
So I added a squirrel. And then Violet's squirrel shirt didn't fit anymore either. So I added a squirrel to a hand me down shirt...because she requested that she, too, still have a squirrel shirt!
Success! I'm so glad I bought the skinny tee pattern...especially since there are so many ways to can use it as a jumping off point!
Oh, and PS...in case you are interested...here's my Squirrel template!
And, I've got to say that I'm loving that I took the time to let out the hems on all these pants! They look so darn cute! I'm sort of wishing I hadn't already cut out the next size up to make this week :( , oh well.
I am also so very glad that this hat still fits!
