In a hurry, as we were expecting the power to go out at any moment from hurricane Sandy, Violet helped me make some comfy pants.
She helped me trace some existing pants onto some cozy fleece and sat on my lap to help me sew them up. The fleece is from body pillow covers I bought on clearance for $2.50. I still have some left for sweatshirts, maybe. I thought they would be the perfect "riding out a hurricane" pants. Violet thought they seemed like the perfect clown pants...
As it turns out, the power never went out! In the two years that we have lived in this house we have never had a storm with high winds that hasn't taken the power out for a little while, so we are counting ourselves very lucky! (Although, part of the reason we likely didn't loose power is because of another huge storm this past summer that took out all of the weak trees and caused week long power outages then.) But, alas, we were lucky, our old stomping grounds of NYC and Jersey City were not though and we are keeping those who were affected by Sandy in our thoughts.
