Well, of course, it's not just me getting into the decorating spirit around here. It's hard to resist the desire to make and decorate this time of year, isn't it?
Today's project is actually a Violet project idea.
As I have mentioned in the past, she is full of ideas. It is truly hard to keep up with her sometimes, and this Christmas has been no different. She has been coming up with crafty ideas since just after Thanksgiving. Okay, okay, yes, well I shouldn't don't blame her, she does come by it honestly, because I, of course, have been thinking about holiday crafting since before Thanksgiving.
So today, I we give you, pipe cleaner Christmas trees.
I made their little wooden bases simply out of branches from the yard.
I drilled a small hole into the mini stumps and then fit and glued in the sticks to start out the project. After that it was just a free for all with the pipe cleaners...
Violet and I will admit that neither of ours quite fit the image we had in our minds, but, as Brad mentioned, "that's the beauty of pipe cleaners, you can always start over again". So, they may perhaps get a little "face lift" at sometime, but for now, they are a nice addition to our holiday decor. And, it was really a great little project for little kiddo hands to do. It's a nice, non-messy project good for all ages and skill levels.
On a little side note. If you don't have a large supply of pipe cleaners in your house but you do have toddlers...I highly recommend stocking up! Pipe cleaners are a favorite craft item in our home. Anything, I mean anything, can be made using pipe cleaners. Violet claims that she is an expert at pipe cleaner art and that she could "show me a few things". In fact, she claims that she could write an entire book about pipe cleaner crafting. I do not doubt it! Darn, I better watch out this little girl is going to get a book deal before me!
Have a lovely day!
