Spring curveballs (this moment)...

It's been a weird week here, with a surprise Spring snow and a houseful of sickies.  Spring threw us a real curveball  But now the snow is nearly all gone, except for one snowball left from our snowman, and we are all nearly healthy again. 

Fingers are crossed for more mild temperatures weekend, and we hope to enjoy a bit of Spring outside on this Easter weekend.

Felted Easter Eggs...

Last week I noticed these sweet little felted eggs on the same page of craftgawker as my spring chicks.  Immediately I thought that they would make a great pair!

So, the kids and I decided to make some of our own.  They were eggcited (sorry, I couldn't resist) because they remembered how fun it was to get soapy and messy after the felted soaps we made in December.

We only have two felt chicks so this egg was stuffed with two chicks that we already had, "they're twins!" proclaimed Violet.
P.S. It was hard to get good pictures, because the kids just wanted to play...so soon enough craziness ensued...

Paper Bunny Ears, a tutorial...

As I mentioned yesterday, I helped to organize our neighborhood Easter Egg Hunt that was held last weekend. 

And, what would an Easter Egg Hunt be without a bunch of bunny ears? I made about 35 pairs of these little bunny ears in about an hour (with breaks in between steps to take care of a sick kiddo).  Well, I must say that I was stapling the elastic while I was at the egg hunt, so I suppose it took more like an hour and a half all tolled...But, still, it's a fun and simple project, with adorable results!

Here's what you need:  cardstock, origami paper (or other colorful paper), stapler, glue, scissors, elastic (or ribbon), and the Paper Bunny Ears template

Print out Paper bunny ears template.  Trace onto cardstock. Cut out. Cut inner part of the ear from origami paper and glue. Cut approximately nine inches of elastic (this size worked pretty well for most kids and adults, but I did change sizes some for the smaller heads).  I used foldover elastic which I got from a fab Pick your Plum sale a while back.  The foldover elastic made the ears nice and soft and comfy to wear, but any elastic would work.  You could also use ribbon and tie in the back.  Staple elastic onto bunny ears. And there, you've got some super cute little bunny ears...
Perfect for bunny hopping, treat eating and egg hunting... Have a lovely day.

Washi Tape and paper mache eggs...

Need some fun crafty projects to keep the kiddos busy this week?  Well, maybe not, but I thought I'd share just the same because we had a ton of fun making these Easter decorations.

Last week, moments before illness reared its ugly head, we painted some paper mache eggs.  Nothing special, just some paper mache eggs from the craft store and washable paints...
But Violet and Henry enjoyed it so much, and with such careful intention.
Violet and I painted paper mache eggs once before.  Henry was still under one and it was a fun project for she and I to do together while he was napping.  But, this year, after hearing this story Henry was eager to paint some of his own.
Over the weekend I helped to put together our neighborhood egg hunt and was in charge of bringing a little craft for the children to do.  One of the things we did was to decorate card stock eggs with washi tape.
This turned out to be loads of fun for kids and adults alike.
Add some crayons or markers and rhinestone stickers and you've got some beautiful decorations. We added ours to our front door.Have a lovely day.

Baby Bunny Bibs for Craft Hope...

Project 20 for Craft Hope is hope for China.  They are collecting baby bibs to distribute to orphanages in China. 

I used Kristen's super sweet and simple bib tutorial and whipped up four little baby bibs in an hour the other week.  (I will admit that my appliques had already been made.)  I also added a bit of flannel in the middle, as my terry cloth was a bit thin.

So far Craft Hope has received 568 bibs!!!
