The other day I found myself making a rare, kidd-less trip to Target. It is always so nice to have the luxury of lolly gaggy around and browsing isn't it? Well, I suppose I am thankful that it doesn't happen too often, who knows what silly things I would come home with! Just kidding, I do have a pretty good sense of self control.
Anywho, I digress...the point, I was at Target, I stumbled upon some bright and cheery (and cheap 4/$5.99) napkins. I had been thinking that it was time to retire some of our stained and dreary napkins to "ragdom", and so I bought them.
When I brought them home I realized that they were the same napkins that Dana used to make this awesome napkin tote, which I suppose inspired me to do something crafty with my napkins as well.
After some thought I decided on a bit of scrap busting embellishment. I loved the way these napkins turned out, with their simple stripe...
but, felt that the bright colors needed something a bit less "formal" feeling, so I went with dots this time...
The dots were inspired by this beautiful quilt. I used Heat N Bond to affix the the dots first and then sewed around the edges.
Super simple but with super fun results.
Wouldn't these be a wonderful gift, for Mother's Day or for a hostess gift? Tie them up with some pretty ribbon, maybe include some bamboo cutlery to make a little picnic gift set.
I love them, so bright and cheery, much nicer to look at than stains. Who knows, maybe the dots will make the eventual stains less noticeable...
Oh and sorry, Mom, I'm keeping these.
