So, I got to be one of the lucky pattern testers for Laura's Fancy Pants Leggings! Yay! I am so excited about these leggings/shorts, so much fun!
Why are they so much fun you ask? Well, the biggest reason, is the bum...
I mean the front of the leggings is great too...
And for this pair I used an ucycled tee using the front of the tee for one leg and the back of the tee for the other leg...
And now a not so favorite shirt just became pretty awesome!
But(t) really, it's the bum...
It's just one little panel but it makes a big, adorable, impact! For Henry's tree pants I found one of his old baby onesies and used that as his bug bum. He thinks the bugs (and the tree) are fantastic!
And for Violet's pair, I used the front panel from one of my husband's old shirts (the rest of it I used in her yellow cardi)...pancake moutain on her hiney is pretty hilarious...albeit, somewhat ridiculous... Alright, alright wanna know more about the pattern? It's got loads of great step by step pictures. Laura includes many helpful tips about sewing with knits, including the differences between different types of knits. It's a super simple and quick sew (especially when you upcycle tees like I did, that way you don't have to add the cuffs on at the bottom, I'm lazy). You can use the pattern to make leggings or shorts. The shorts are perfect for wearing under skirts and dresses too, you know for those tom girls (I'm making Violet a couple pairs for this specific reason)! And extra bonus, your kiddos are going to love them and look adorable in them!
(Henry finally got to wear his car shirt, he loves it!)
It was nearly impossible for me to snap a picture with Henry wearing his new shorts...he liked them so much he was just off and running!
And the day I made him his leggings it was 85 degrees out and he refused to take them off regardless of how sweaty he got... And, they aren't just for boys...Violet loves hers too!
I made hers out of an old tee of mine...it was one of those shirts that was meant to look (and was) pourly sewn, thus the ratty exposed seams, that's the way it came, it wasn't me!
And this is what happened when Violet decided she wanted to try to see what her bum looked like...
Silly girl! And, come on, seriously just because she is five now it doesn't mean she has to grow up so fast!
Anywho...these leggings are awesome. I will be making more, it might even be time for me to actually buy some knit fabric for more of these instead of just upcycling tees...
