I am so excited to be the next stop on the Fancy Pants Leggings Blog Tour!
This pattern is quickly becoming one of my favorite and one of my most sewn! Why, you may ask? Because it's such a quick sew! And, because the results are adorable! I have sewn so many of these leggings (8 so far) that I can nearly do it with my eyes closed. Well, okay, that's a bit of a stretch...
The pattern itself comes together so well. Laura gives fantastic and thorough instructions, including some tips on sewing with knits. And, if you are like me, and don't add the leg cuffs (because I'm kind of lazy like that, but also, I like them that way) you can whip up a pair in twenty minutes!
And that twenty minutes is why I've got not one, not two, but three pairs of Fancy Pants shorts to share with you today...I just couldn't stop myself.
(Side note, so sorry for the dirt on the bum of the ruffled shorts, maybe you can't see it, fingers crossed, Violet really does where these all the time, they are clean, honest. It's a good thing I have more fabric, I'll probably need to make some more!)First, a ruffled pair.
I had this vision of a little ruffled bum under a skirt, which indeed would be super cute, and incidentally these look awesome under the my first Roly Poly pinafore (and match the second perfectly, but that was accidental, and you've got to wait until next week to see that)
But, these hold up on their own too! Violet loves this pair! Between the ruffles and the turquoise color, I think she would wear them everyday if I let her.
The ruffled fabric is from Girl Charlee. I actually broke down and bought some knits, what can I say I was starting to use up my t-shirt stash! This is the first time I've ever sewn with ruffled fabric and, while it's not difficult, it's not easy either. The fabric is slippery, you have to pay attention to where your ruffles are laying as you are sewing, and you have to be careful how you cut. I accidentally cut into one of my ruffles, you can see it at the top, oops.
Next, I made the birthday boy a pair of car pajamas for a birthday gift.
Curse you Laura for telling me that I could buy Heather Ross fabric at Spoonflower! Anywho, I bit the bullet and bought some knit, the cars got me!
I used Rae's Flashback Skinny tee pattern for the shirt (another many times sewn pattern). I love the siren sound... This knit from Spoonflower is so super fabulous soft! I took advantage of the cream border and left the selvedge as my "hem" instead of hemming the bottom of the shorts. Since I wasn't adding the cuff I cut my shorts about an inch below the cut line on the pattern. I think it worked out really nicely that way.
They also, apparently, are great for showing off your muscles... Goodness, it's hard to take any normal pictures of this boy lately!
Last, but not least, Violet got some new pajamas too, because I could not resist a fat quarter of Heather Ross' sleeping beauty.
I used the selvedge as the hem again (I cut my shorts about an inch below the cut line on the pattern), and yes, you can see a bit of the words, but I didn't have much choice since I only had a fat quarter. I added an applique to a shirt we already had to make the pajamas a complete set.
Violet, is crazy for these!
Just like I am crazy for this pattern!
She also just gets crazy when I let her stand on the bed... Alrighty, so sorry for the photo overload, but come on, two sets of jammies and some ruffles, what's a girl to do?!
Oh, one more thing, I used the size 4 for Violet who usually wears size 5 and size 2 for Henry, I chose their size according to the measurements in the pattern.
I love this pattern and I would urge you to go buy it and give it a try yourself!
But, you are also in luck because I have a copy of the pattern to offer as a giveaway today! To enter "Like" either (or both) Titchy Threads or Craftstorming on Facebook and then leave a comment telling me you did. Bonus entries for liking Buzzmills on Facebook and/or following me on Bloglovin'. The giveaway will be open until the end of the day next Wednesday.

I
liked all three and there is no way I will miss a thing as I made sure
to set myself up for notifications when you add content. Beautiful site.
Wow those are beautiful fabrics you chose. I loved loved loved the
little boy set! My oldest son would love it for a new summer outfit or
even jammies! You did a great job and I think these are my favorites so
far from this pattern! I think I prefer them without the cuff too,
unless it was with a bold print- too cute!
Congratulations Chelsea, enjoy the pattern!
