Are you sewing along? I've got to say, I am not. I will miss it! I have so much fun going a little bit crazy to sew, sew, sew for the kiddos, but goodness Violet and Henry have plenty of summer handmades already! Between KCW Spring, pattern testing (here, here, here, and here), blog tours (here, and here and more to come!), birthdays and Shorts on the Line...I have been kid sewing up a storm!
Incidentally Shorts on the Line viewer's choice voting is now open. Voting closes 7/17 at 5pm EST. There are SO many lovely pairs of shorts up for voting! Head on over to vote. You can vote for more than one pair. And, if you are interested or curious, my shorts are #s 11, 13, 15, 16, 37, 38, 39, 41 and 42 in case any of those are your faves.
So, I am sitting this one out...to be back in the fall. But that's not to say I won't be doing any kid sewing!
In fact, on July 3 and the morning of the fourth, I found myself sewing up a pair of Prefontaines for Violet for the fourth of July parade!
The fabric is Denyse Schmidt Shelburne Falls. I fell in love with it the moment I saw it and bought it a couple of months back for this very occasion. But, after reflecting on all that I had been making for Violet and Henry and realizing that they both already had red, white and blue that fit them perfectly well, I made myself something instead. (No pictures of that yet.) But then, Violet caught me! And I couldn't resist sewing up the floral into a pair of shorts for her.
But you see, the are perfectly patriotic!
These might be perhaps one of my most favorite shorts! It's something about those old fashioned little flowers. I wished that I had made them for me, either for when I was a kid or now for jammies!
They are, as their name implies, perfect for running about...
But they are also perfect for a bit of jump roping too!
Yup, I love these shorts!
Have a great day.
