Okay, so a few things...
First, attempting to sew and cut and visualize with Henry in the same room as me is virtually impossible! Even when he's not feeling very well he is still chatting up a storm, like non stop, as in I can't even figure out what I'm trying to think!
Which leads me to the second thing. I made several little errors while cutting out my pattern pieces, because of said motor mouth.
And, lastly, I think, lastly...I'm a tad bit frustrated by the timing of KCW this season. I love having the motivation to really knock out some of those clothes necessities for the kids but this year, with the timing I'm stressing over the fact that we still don't have Halloween costumes. And, sadly, I will probably have to put aside all of those fall clothes staples that I've been looking forward to sewing and turn toward the Halloween making.
Yes, yes, I know, of course I can make the clothes another time, but where will the motivation be then?! Am I being too dramatic?
Anywho. I made Henry a Bimaa Hoodie Sweater today... I purchased this pattern through the recent Sew Fab e-pattern sale. I waited, literally, until the very last minute to purchase the patterns because I already had three of them, but then I had really been wanting the Bimaa pattern and the Greenpoint Cardigan pattern (one that I probably won't get to this week) too, add in a few others I was interested in and it seemed like a no brainer, so I just did it!
The Bimaa comes together very nicely. It took me longer than I had wanted it to take, but, that might be again, because of the aforementioned motor mouth. No, seriously, he is sooo adorable and cute, but man, can he talk!
I used one of my husband's old thermals in the "to upcycle" stash which meant that I got to use the old cuffs, I love extra large cuffs on kid shirts! I omitted the waistband so that I could use the existing bottom hem and curve.
One of my huge errors in cutting was that somehow, don't ask, I ended up with two fronts! And not enough fabric to start over. So I added a little flash of red in the back to fix it. In hindsight, it might have looked better with the deer back there, but red is Henry's favorite color so I went with that... And please, notice the pants... Yes, they are on backwards. Yes, most days they are on backwards, he insists that he doesn't care.
The deer fabric for the hood is from Girl Charlee.
I love it!
Henry, of course, thinks for some reason he doesn't! Boo! Really?! It's totally awesome. I blame his sickness, he will come around...I hope. But, in the meantime you'll have to see some grumpy faced pictures of him.
Look at that, too many pictures even with the grumpy face, sorry, sometimes those are even cuter, tee hee.
And, now I've got one on my list for Violet because, she does love it! It just won't fit her.
What have you been sewing? Or unsewing as my case was last night...I let them hems out of these pants and these pants hoping to get a little bit more life in them. I did it last year too, it's a pain, but I love getting as much use as I can out of pants! Do you alter your handmades?
