Yesterday I headed to Henry's preschool to do a little crafting with his class. I've done this for a few years now between Henry and Violet, last year we made felted soaps, and the year before we made snow globes and star ornaments. I love helping the kids get into the holiday spirit, plus, if they want, they have a little gift that they can give to someone special.
This year we made wood ornaments and three dimensional paper trees...
I showed this little sneaky peek the other day on instagram...
The paper trees all by themselves look so beautiful don't they?
For the class though, I brought with me: washi tape, pom poms, crayons, markers and sparkley stickers...
and let them decorate, decorate, decorate...
They each had a chance to color in a wooden tree ornament (all cut by hand by me from a down branch) as well, which then, of course was hung on their own Christmas trees. Cute kids!
Want to make some of your own? They are super simple to make...
Supplies needed: scissors or exacto knife, card stock, 3d paper trees template (here)
Print out template here and cut out your desired tree size...
You need two trees shapes for each tree. After cutting out your trees, cut a slit in the center of one tree up from the bottom, go about halfway up. In the second tree cut a slit in the center down from the top, go about halfway down.
Once trees are cut, carefully fit them together, stand them up and enjoy either naked...
Yes, these were fun...Violet and I didn't want to miss out on the fun so we made some of our own as well...
So why not cut a few out and set them aside...I'm sure you'll likely need a little bit of quiet time in the coming days and these will be perfect for you and the kids!
Enjoy!
