This past weekend was my sister's birthday. We had her over for dinner and cake (yes more cake, too much cake!) and gifts too!
The kids, of course, made her cards and Violet crafted up a beautiful star to give! She was also lucky recipient of this necklace that Violet and Henry and I made together a couple of weeks ago.
And just to keep the love and hearts theme going I made her a pretty pair of metallic leather heart earrings too...
These were easy and fun to make, and aside from getting the hearts just the right shape and size, quick too!
Supplies: metallic leather, 4 - 6mm jump rings, 2- small silver beads, 2 earring wires, sharp scissors for cutting, craft knife, needle nosed pliers Cut out two hearts from your leather. Mine are approximately 5/8" wide by 3/4" long. Poke a hole in one lobe of each heart (make sure that they are opposite lobes though) with a craft knife. Poke one jump ring through each hole, then attach the second jump ring to the first and slip those onto the earring wire. Use needle nosed pliers to ensure that all gaps in the wires and jump rings are closed. Slip the sliver bead onto the earring wire and you are done!
I slipped the hearts into a little piece of colorful cardstock to wrap it...
They almost look store bought!
She loved them and said that she got lots of compliments on them at work!
Yay!
And, I loved them so much that I had to make a pair of my own too... Just in time for Valentine's Day!
Enjoy!
