Today, a fun surprise!
A few of my bloggy friends and I (#creativemamas) are throwing a virtual baby shower for, Carla (Small + Friendly) and Lacy (Living on Love)! We'd love, of course, to be able throw them an actual shower, but seeing that we are all scattered across the country and Canada a virtual one will be just as fun!
Lacy is due with baby girl #3, and Carla is due with baby boy #2 and aside from having due dates that are close together they've also go some nursery decor similarities as well, clouds and stars...so we've got a little Celestial theme going...
For Carla, stars! And for Lacy, clouds! So, to start I made them each a sweet little appliqued organic terry cloth bib...
I used Krisitin's baby bib pattern for both, but for the cloud bib, I made it a little "cloud like" around the edges.
And then for fun, a little cloud and star softie too...
These toys were inspired by my own star pillows and a cloud pillow that Lacy had picked out, but, they are miniature versions, tiny enough for little hands to grasp onto... A sweet little celestial set for each new little baby.
But, because it's easy to get a little carried away when it comes to babies...and making baby clothes because they are so, so tiny and adorable and quick to sew, I sewed up a little outfit for each as well...
It all started with the pants really...The pattern is Rae's free baby pants pattern (super fast!) and the fabric is Violet Craft, Medrona Road. I've had this fabric sitting around for over a year now just waiting...and I think that I found the perfect fit for it! Lacy lives on a farm, and Carla, while she doesn't live on a farm, she does love her chickens and gardening...I don't know it just felt right!
I added a little truck applique to a couple of onesies and then grabbed some knits from my stash to make a pair of matching baby hats. Don't you love baby hats, so cute! I used this pattern for the hats and they really do sew up so quickly!
And before I knew it I had two sweet little matching outfits all ready to go...
One for a baby girl and one for baby boy.
For their little bundles...
I do hope they like them!
