Last week Suz, from Sewpony, released her vintage inspired Cosi Swimsuit pattern and I was lucky enough to be one of her pattern testers!
I fell in love with this suit the first time I saw it on her blog and was thrilled to get a chance to sew one up. Of course, I was a little bit nervous as well. I mean sew a bathing suit? Sewing a bathing suit hasn't exactly been one of those things on my list of "must try" things, but this suit is adorable!
When it comes to swimsuits for Violet I typically ere on the side of modest and, as she gets older, I've found it difficult to find suits that are cute, but not "pre-teeny" and this suit and it's silhouettes are just that!
I sewed up the size 6 for Violet and it really fit spot on. The sewing, aside from slippery fabric, (both fabrics are from Joann) was fairly simple and straight forward. Suz gives you great instructions and tips and if you've sewn with knits before you can do it, you just have to be patient with the slippery fabric.
The leg ruffles, despite mine ending up a bit wonky, are my favorite part of this suit.
Violet loves this suit so much and is thrilled to have a mama made suit to wear this summer!
In fact, it's already been in rotation fairly often in the past few weeks!
Okay, so, we love it! Suz did a great job on the pattern. I've already got plans and fabric for another one (view D)!
Suz just posted up all of the tester versions today...so many cute suits, go check them out!
And, now, if you'll please excuse me, but it IS the first day of summer vacation and we are headed to the pool!
But wait, before we leave...want a chance to win a copy? Suz has generously offered to give away one copy of her Cosi Swimsuit pattern. The giveaway is open from now until midnight EST 6/20 ... so you should have your prize just in time to sew up for the first day of summer on Saturday (the first day of summer for some of us anyway...)
