For the second day in a row both kids were home yesterday sick...like moaning in pain sick. Ugh. But as they were on again, off again napping or watching a movie yesterday I was squeezing in my Kids Clothes Week sewing...
I started with another pair of Hosh pants...
Same size and changes as yesterday's hosh pants but this time in a stretch knit from Joann. I wish that I hadn't made them quite so big since they are knit. They look a little too baggy for me, but then again...there is plenty of room to grow into them. I also happen to have enough more to make another pair, so maybe I'll just do that. Anywho, Henry picked out the fabric at the same time that Violet was picking out her flower denim. I'm fairly certain that it's because it reminded him of his original Fancy Pants fabric and sadly those, while they do still get some wear time around the house, really need to be retired, like hole in the butt that can not be repaired retired...
Anyway, despite their bagginess, he loves them of course!
And, since I let the kids watch a movie yesterday I also managed two sew up a Rowan tee as well!
The Rowan tee is a new tee pattern from Laura, of Craftstorming. This pattern has it all! It can be short sleeved or long, hooded or not, cuffs or no cuffs, stripes or no stripes, kangaroo or no... Seriously, it has 144 different variation possibilities! Amazing! But, with all of those options Laura has each size in a different layer of the file (love that!) and she did an amazing job of directing you in the pattern to the exact pages you need to print for the size and variations you want. Awesome, no unnecessary printing or taping or cutting!
Of course, with my first sewing of it I had to add one more variation! HA!
Easy to do by the way...I just didn't tape my pattern pieces all the way together. I used the tops and middles of all of the pattern pieces and didn't trim the paper edges to use that as my seam allowance to sew the pieces together. Hope that makes sense.
The thing is, I was inspired! This KCW challenge has a "Storybook" theme to it. I hadn't intended on necessarily making something story book inspired, but then the other day we were reading a brand new Otis book, we do love Otis the tractor, and you know...inspiration...
See chrome at the tippy top, a red top, a white (well it should be beige but alas I didn't have any beige) bottom, and black cuffs for the tires...
I had thought about putting a cute little tractor face on the shirt, but then just decided to leave it as is...besides, I'm sure the white will be stained soon enough and then I'll slap the face on to hide the stains!
I had Henry try the shirt on after it was finished and, even in his Ibuprofen induced stupor he loved it and didn't want to take it off!
So, Henry loves his new shirt. I love my new pattern, but of course I haven't made a Titchy Threads pattern I don't like, she's all about details, including a super smooth (at least to me) way to sew the sleeve cuffs!
And now I know that Henry loves Hosh pants just as much as Fancy Pants!
Alrighty, then I leave you with this little gem...
