It's day three of Kids Clothes Week and while I did get some sewing in today these pants were actually finished yesterday just in time to snap some pictures before the rain set in. I had started them a tiny bit on Monday evening but ended up finishing them yesterday. Anywho...
In an effort to get Henry to wear more pants and a few less leggings I thought I'd make him another Hosh pants. He really loves his other two pair, although the yellow ones are soooo stained and I'm not sure the lion pants fit anymore. So, why not make more...
The flannel is Shetland flannel in redwood by Robert Kauffman from the ImagineGnats Shop and it's lovely!
And, I had intended on using it for me, but...well, actually there should be enough left for a skirt, yay! Anywho, it's lovely. Soft and the texture and color and everything...here's a closer look...
see, fantastic!
It does have a little bit of give, but there is definitely not any stretch in this fabric. I sewed up the size four for Henry, he could really probably still fit in the three, but with this fabric...Also, I widened the legs just a bit, easing out around the knee about 1/2". I also used a smaller seam allowance 1/4" to give them just a bit more ease. I think it worked nicely with plenty of room to grow.
Of course, I flaked out when I was doing the waist band and there is elastic all the way around instead of just in the back so it makes it a little extra baggy in the front but...oh well, right!
And then there are the pockets down there...
Yup, too low, oops!!
But I love them still!
And he doesn't really seam to care, he'll find a way to use them...
I used the pocket pattern from the parsley pants pattern. I think it adds a great extra little element to the pants and will surely be making more like these...only maybe with the pockets slightly higher next time...
Anyway, Henry loves them! And they aren't leggings! So double bonus! Wait and they are warm and snuggly too, so yeah, they are awesome!
