Another day of Kids Clothes Week and I've got another make! Yay, I'm on a roll...I'm not holding my breath though, things already seem to be going downhill...diagnosis ear infection and today and tomorrow home sick from school. But, I've got hope that I'll still be able to plug away bit by bit...
Anywho, today's make...
As I mentioned yesterday Violet needs some new pants! Sadly these pants no longer fit her, boo! But she loved them so very much. Violet picked out this stretch denim with little flowers from Joann last week. Aren't these flowers so sweet!
The pattern is an old favorite...Rae's parsley pants. I sewed up a size 8 this time. Violet was in between size 7 and 8, but fearing that she would have another growth spurt I went with the size 8. I definitely should have got with the size 7. Oh well. The waist had to come in a ton! But then again there is room to grow.
Also, the legs were way too wide so I added an extra 1/2" to the seam allowance making it a whole 1" seam allowance (trimming it down obviously). The legs are still a bit wide, but with the weight and stretch of the denim I totally love the wide leg look! In fact I'm wondering if I can swing a pair, tee hee.
After I finished making the pockets and was sewing them on I thought, oops I should have added some piping! But I actually really love that these are nice and "neutral" perfect for wearing with pretty much anything.
The bonus about a sick day home is that you get to take pictures in the middle of the day! Except that they occasionally go smile, cough, smile!
These pictures were taken during a burst of energy. She totally loves them...
...and I know that she was really thankful for a comfortable pair of pants to wear on a day where she's not feeling quite so good, as in an hour later... I think there will likely be at least another pair of wide leg parsley pants in her future!
And, that's a wrap on day two!
