As I mentioned yesterday it took Violet all of five minutes to think of a new costume idea after Henry changed his to a cowboy. She disappeared down to the craft table and came back with a drawing, a name and an entire to story to go along with it.
She was to be a wizard named Holy Vine...
and her powers, tucked away in this little tiny pouch...
are "emotion potions"...
She has the power to change your emotions in anyway she wants.
I knew she'd come up with something new and fun! We started with a trip to Jo-ann to find just the right fabric. And we did, we found the perfect fabric...
Too bad it's shedding glitter ALL OVER MY HOUSE!
For the robe I used an old McCall's costume pattern that my neighbor gave me shortly after we moved in (four years ago). At the time I tucked them away and didn't really giving them any thought, and then I was thankful to remember that I had it!
I made the hat by fusing the fabric onto some super thick fusible interfacing, rather than using card stock, and then folded the fabric edges toward the wrong side and sewed along the edges and around the bottom. The fold along the cone was hot glued. The interfacing was a great way to go. It gave the right amount of stiffness and sturdiness, but without the weight and top heaviness that often comes when using card stock.
We topped the costume off with a big silver cord belt...
A magical wizard wand (a big stick and a ball)...
And a wizard loot bag (which shed glitter all over her candy!)...
She was so happy to have such a sparkly and magical looking costume!
And then she began to cast her spells...
And change emotions...
I think it'd be pretty nice to have Holy Vine around here more often to change emotions, but only if she's changing them for the better!
I'll share my emoji tomorrow...
