The moment Thanksgiving passed the kids immediately began to think about the Christmas presents they would make: for each other, for us and for others as well. And, the moment we were back home from our travels that is exactly what they began to do.
In fact, last weekend I was minding my own business, heading downstairs to do some laundry only to be greeted at the bottom of the steps (where their craft space is) by shouts of "Don't look!"
The "elving" had begun!
I heeded their warnings and averted my eyes, and then promptly made them a little sign to hang on the door to warn us of their intentions in the future...
They loved the idea and have enjoyed using their "Elves at work" sign.
Perhaps, there might be some other children and parents out there needing their own warning signs as well? Well, if so...I've got a couple of Christmas tree door hanger printables to share with you and your little elves.
If you want something "fancy" print this "Elves at work" door hanger out onto cardstock...
Cut out and hang on any door to let others know that they won't want to spoil the surprise!
If you'd rather save on printer ink simply print out the blank door hanger template either onto cardstock or trace onto cardstock...
Add your own words as I did on the black tree door hanger...
Or give them to your elves...
(*note, bird decal how to can be found here)
and let them decorate them themselves...
Whichever door hanger you use you can be sure that elving or wrapping can happen safely and uninterrupted behind closed doors.
Happy making!
