A friend of mine asked me way back in December if I would be interested in making her daughter a doll for her first Christmas. Well, she got me right at the perfect time because I had been having "I want to make a doll" pangs recently...Sound silly? Well, it's true...it has been a long time since I've sewn a doll and I really just wanted to make one!
So I happily agreed...
The pattern is from the Wee Wonderfuls book. I've made several projects from this book before, including this dinosaur, this kitty and Sam. Not to mention my first ever doll, this sweet little inside out doll that I made way back for Violet's third birthday...
Anywho, I digress...this sweet little doll is really a perfect first doll, not too big and with felt hair (no yarn to get tangled up...)
I really did have a lot of fun sewing her up, and picking out her tights and little dress...
And, in the end, before we shipped her off to her new home Violet and I decided that she needed a couple of little yellow hair bows to top her off...
I hope her new little girl loves her as much as I loved making her!
She's really only continued to spark my doll making needs though! I've been so enamored with this beautiful doll made by Tara. In fact I bought the book with the pattern in it already, Storybook Toys, hoping that I would have a chance to make one for Violet for her birthday...Alas, I have not yet started and her birthday is on Saturday! I'm not giving up on the making though, just on the gifting for birthday!
