One can never have enough pajamas, right? Well, that's how I feel anyway, especially pajama pants! I hadn't intended on making Violet pajama pants for her birthday, initially, all I had on my make list for birthday gifts was a birthday dress (which I still need to get proper pictures of!) but then before I knew it I was cutting and sewing up a crazy amount of things in less than 24 hours to give!
These pinwheel parsley pajama pants (enough alliteration for you?) were a happy after thought.
As I was searching through my stash looking for something else I stumbled across some flannel pinwheel fabric from Sarah Jane that I scored several months ago. When I looked at how much yardage I had I realized that if I didn't use it to make something for Violet soon then soon I wouldn't have enough to make something for her...you know the whole kids growing like a weed thing!
Cue parsley pants. This pants pattern sews up in a flash, especially when you are making them at their most basic!
I sewed up a size 8 again, just as I had this past fall, but didn't make any changes as I did for this denim pair because pajama pants are supposed to be big and baggy, right? Plus, they will fit longer...To ensure that they would fit longer I also added a great big hem facing out of more pinwheels (no matter how these pinwheels turn up they are always super cute!). This way, for now, they can be cuffed and then eventually the cuffs can be folded down and voila...longer pants!
I had a bit of a brain fart and messed the hem facing up a little, in that there is an exposed seam allowance (oops!) but it's barely noticeable so, eh...no big deal really I suppose.
The only important part really is that Violet loves them and they look totally adorable on her!
Now, if it will stop snowing maybe I'll have a moment to get some birthday dress pictures...
Have a great day!
