Today's Selfish Sewing Week project is a bit of a "cheater" project...
For too long my Lady Skater dress has been sitting in a heap upon my dresser...too big to really look nice anymore and always slipping off my shoulders...
One of the many handmades that don't quite fit me anymore...
Anywho, it's been bothering me for months seeing it sitting there in a heap, especially since I remembered how comfy the fabric was! So, I picked the bodice apart from the skirt and added a simple rib knit waistband, with elastic encased in the waistband...
It's not quite perfect...it seems the hem is (always was) a bit wobbly and I didn't get the gathering quite even enough in the waist...but it is comfortable and it fits and now I can wear it again!
Of course, it is less likely that I will be wearing it like I was in the lead picture and more likely that I will be wearing it like this with a sweashirt and rainboots...
Although I do think that with heals and my simple scarf, which happens to be a small piece of jersey knit that I wrapped around my neck one day and deemed it my favorite "spring" scarf, it has a bit of a "Parisian" feel to it.
Either way I decide to wear it I am so happy that it is no longer piled in a heap. Hooray for simple, "cheater" projects...and blurry, rainy day, kid taken Selfish Sewing Week photos.
