Violet didn't ask for a lot for her birthday, but she was pretty adamant about one thing...a zebra nightgown!
She picked out this zebra waffle knit last summer on a trip to Finch to visit with Tara and her kiddos and I've been putting off making her something with it since then. Initially she wanted a hoodie of some sort but then she changed her mind thinking that she wanted a dress, but then I worried it would be too see through for that. We never quite settled on just the right project so it continually got itself pushed toward the back of the pile.
Then, when were were discussing what she might want for her birthday, she exclaimed "a zebra nightgown!" Well, that seemed like the perfect compromise/solution.
I used the flashback skinny tee pattern for the top and extended it down as far as my fabric would allow to make it nice and long (and warm)...
I also eased out the pattern a bit for a slight a-line shape similar to this dress. I added a bit of color pop with turquoise blue cuffs and neckband...
The fabric is so comfortable and perfectly suit for a snuggly nightgown! She opened it just before bedtime on her birthday and was thrilled to have a brand new nightgown to head to bed in...
I'm not sure what it is about making kid pajamas, but I really love it! Seeing them in cozy mama made jammies makes my heart happy.
