I've got one more, well three actually, pre-beach makes to share today.
I'm a sucker for Charley Harper fabrics...also really any sandpiper fabrics as is evident from these shorts and this hat, especially when it comes to heading to the beach. Perhaps it's because of the time I spent working at the beach as an intern one summer...or maybe it's just that those little legs are so cute as they speed along the beach so quickly...
Or maybe it's the similarities the kids share with these speedy little birds while at the beach chasing after ...
and running away from waves...
Whatever the case may be, these double gauze sandpipers simply had to make it to the beach with us!
For Henry, I made a pair of Dana's Kid shorts...
really the perfect pairing!
Though, perhaps the tiniest bit on the long side for tide pools...
The tank is yet another Cloud 9 Swimwear tank using laguna cotton jersey and more cotton/lycra ribbing (both from Imagine Gnats) and again, even in it's simplicity, I love it!
I had hoped to make Violet a pair of shorts too, but, alas...I was running out of time! So she requested a simple lazy days skirt, "One like my strawberry skirt and my blocks skirt..."
Both choices seem to perfectly suit these two...
especially their carefree attitudes while we are at the beach...
Like two little scampering sandpipers!
As for me, well I couldn't resist it...and was just able to eek out a skirt for myself as well! I used my own summer swirl skirt tutorial and a bit of neon pink elastic for the waistband...and it is without a doubt one of my favorite makes for me this summer!
We had a blast running up and down the beach pretending to be sandpipers as we walked toward our favorite diner for an early morning breakfast...a beachy tradition of ours...
I love that each of our sandpipers are the same...
but also just the tiniest bit different as well...
Because, of course, we are each similar and oh so different at the same time!
I always love making some new "special for vacation makes" just before we pack up and head off on our way...It seems to be one way for us to take a moment to pull out "the real camera" and get some fun and special pictures, but it also makes the vacation itself feel a little bit more extra special too!
But, alas, those moments after...while editing, I always wish we were back...on vacation! It was amazing and fun and special while it lasted!
