Well...look at that...it's been a little while, huh! December just flew by, so fast, in fact, that I was making so much I didn't have time to write... I wasn't completely blog absent...I did put together a little something (that I really loved!) for Petit a petit and family...but as for here, well I admit it went a little neglected...
But, now the good news is that I've made all the things and now I'm going to share all the things!
To start...
This year, two members of our neighborhood book club...moved out of the neighborhood! Not just to another neighborhood either...but to states hours and hours away! It totally stinks! (And that is a major understatement!) In the hopes of pulling us all together around the holidays I asked if folks would be interested in a little "secret santa" gift exchange. Everyone was game, despite the fact that we all had loads of other gifts to purchase, etc... but something about buying a little something for a friend just because makes the gift giving more fun...doesn't it?
The fellow book club member that was chosen for me also happens to me the lady I blame thank for getting me back into running three years ago. The friend who woke up to take me to the start of the Marine Corps Marathon...She also happened to be gearing up for a super amazing two week long Christmas adventure in another country with her family...
So, a dopp kit seemed like the perfect gift! And a dopp kit with sneakers on seemed even better!
I admit...it's a bit wabi-sabi...
it's just that with all of the interfacing and such...that's what seems to happen. The one I made myself turned out with a similar wabi-sabiness but I still love it and use it all of the time!
And you know...it's the thought that counts, right!
Of course I tucked in a few little goodies inside it as well...and she loved it!
The little added shoelace zipper pull detail, I think, is my favorite thing about it!
But, the sneakers...they too make me smile!
Once I finished it and tucked all of the goodies inside I couldn't wait to give it her! I caught up with her at the gym (but of course!) the day before she was leaving on her trip and she texted me a picture soon after...showing that she'd already filled it up for the trip!
Here's to gift giving...it's the best isn't it! It really is the best part of Christmas, I think!
