It seems appropriate to me that I hurry up and post my "summery" makes... seeing that the first day of Fall is arriving in a few short days and all...
It probably matters to no one else, but me though...
HA!
Anywho...
Last month I stumbled across this Sway dress and was intrigued by a dress that could be "spun around"! I'm sure this isn't quite news to anyone else but me, but somehow I missed the Sway dress (paper cut Patterns) pattern all together! Well, this new revelation came at the perfect time for me as I was desperate!
Desperate for a possible date night to celebrate our 14th anniversary...with the move and everything it'd been months and months since we'd been on a date! And desperate for something speedy that I could make to wear on said date!
We found a babysitter! Amazing! And, in the midst of back to school sewing and kids home, I managed to whip up a new dress the day of the date! Double amazing!
Oh, this dress, is divine to wear!
I sewed an XS, though I think next time I'll likely sew up an XXS as it seems a little roomier under arm that it needs to be...And used some amazing Water Color Linen in Sugar Plum that I picked up from Purl Soho during my NYC birthday trip. I had thought I'd use this linen to make myself a blouse of sorts, but then it sat packed away and no blouse...
But this dress! This fabric has such an amazing color, with the teeny tiniest amount of subtle sheen, and while it's not super flowy, it's drape gives it a lovely "bounce", if that makes any sense.
I made the short version knowing that I didn't necessarily want to belt it. But, as you can see it's not very short on me. I'm 5'2"! Also, the recommendation was that, before you hem, allow the dress to hang for 24 hours because it's cut on the bias. I didn't have time for that, remember..."day of" sewing here...so, I admit the hem is a little "handkerchief hem" (ish) but, I kinda like it that way with this fabric...
I love, love, love the v neck neckline! (Oh, I also love that the dress has pockets!) But, I really do love that there is the option to flip the dress around!
Oh, wait...sorry, the dress flipping around, not me! (It's been a while since I've used my remote!)
And, then when you flip the dress around for the scoop neckline that V goes to the back and it's just as pretty there!
Another bonus...it's also a great dress for layering either with a tee underneath or a cardi overtop...
It's got me all kinds of excited about making a fall version now!
Well look at that...sewjo and blogjo (that's not a thing, ha!) back!
Now if I can just get my cleaningjo back...
