Well, hello there! It's been a long time! Over 5 months in fact! Nearly two full seasons since I last posted here!
If you follow me on Instagram you know that my absence was due to moving!
Between coaching soccer, finishing up the school year, traveling back and forth multiple times house hunting, packing the house up to put it on the market and then packing up the rest of the way to actually move, two birthday celebrations, saying goodbye to friends and saying goodbye to favorite places there just wasn't any time to sew. Not to mention, while my sewing machine stayed out as a "prop", my fabric stash was in the first move out to the storage unit!
Though it's been five months since I've last posted, if you follow me on Instagram you know that while the sewing did stop for a bit, the making did not ...
Also, the unpacking was fast and furious! And the sewing started again in August! Whoo hoo!
Finally, sometime in August, I found a few hours to hunker down in my new space to sew something. Part of the delay was that I couldn't decide on what exactly to start sewing...In the end the hot summer temps and lack of air conditioning steered me toward the Klein dress by Cali Faye.
I really wanted a light and airy sundress. This fit the bill perfectly!
I sewed up a size 2-4 in some nani IRO double gauze that I have had in my stash for nearly a year! (I got it from Imagine Gnats, she no longer has the red in stock, but the blue is lovely too! )
While I love this double gauze, it is a bit heavier than some other double gauzes. Not heavy as in, it's hot to wear, it's still plenty cool and summer dress airy feeling, but it's a big fuller than if it were made in rayon or the like.
Regardless of the fullness of the skirt...I am in love with this dress! I think my favorite part of the dress might be the lovely scoop of the back...
It's really just perfect!
It's so nice to be sewing again!
Of course, while I did get my sewing stuff unpacked before I started to sew, I didn't necessarily decorate the guest room/office/sewing studio completely before I dove in...and now it's already littered with fabric scraps and patterns! I suppose that's all par for the course.
One more thing...
If you are following me on Instagram you also know that I'm now contributing to the Imagine Gnats blog...go check out my first post!
Actually, one more thing...
I just wanted to say that seeing my last post from April...these outfits are still getting so much wear! And, oh my goodness how have my children matured and grown up so much since I took those pictures!
