Hello there! It's May 1st!
"May Day", "Mother Goose Day"...or for those of us in the sewing/blogging/IG world...it's the first day of "Me Made May"!
It's a month chock full of handmades, a month where some pledge to wear "me made" every day. I do, in fact, most days, end up wearing something "me made" nearly every day. (If not me, then the kids for sure!) I've participated in "Me Made May" before, but, with our move last year had to skip out as I was only really wearing junk clothes every day!
Anywho, this year I'm planning to participate yet again! And, I am excited! It's always a fun challenge, mostly because often times I don't really think about it, but this makes me do just that.
To start off "Me Made May"...a new groove dress!
We attended a rehearsal dinner this past Friday and I needed wanted a new dress to wear for the ocassion. Of course, I didn't actually have a ton of time to make a new dress...so I needed something super speedy!
I've already sewn up a blue groove and a sleeveless groove, so I knew that it'd be speedy and that I love it...so a new groove it was.
Of course, the next issue was finding fabric in my stash...
I found this stripey art gallery fabric but just barely had enough, except that I needed to split the back in two instead of cutting it on the fold...it worked just fine though and I rather like the seam down the back!
I love it! And, bonus that it looks perfect with my new (first ever!) hasbeens!
Of course, the reason I really love this pattern is that it's a perfect "play dress" even for women!
So, today, on the first day of May, it's actually warm here! YAY! And, I don't actually wear my hasbeens on an every day basis, but rather sneakers...
So, this is how I mostly imagine wearing this dress...
Sneakers and twirling...
And doing "mom things"
Like soccer practice and dog walks and school drop off/pick up and errands...
And it's perfect for all of those things too!
I do love a good versatile piece of clothing!
Here's to the first day of May, bare legs, Keds and handmades!
